The Southwestern Region’s South Texas Chapters & Affiliates invite you to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Youth Symposium in Houston, TX.  This impactful event will take place at Mead Middle School (Aldine ISD) on March 28, 2026, from 9:00 AM–1:00 PM.

For three decades, the Youth Symposium has provided transformative programming in communities nationwide. This year’s theme, Full S.T.E.A.M. Ahead, highlights our commitment to preparing youth for the future through science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics.

Why This Initiative Is Important

Mead Middle School serves approximately 960 students in grades 6–8. The student body is predominantly Hispanic, and most students face barriers tied to poverty, language acquisition, and academic readiness. With the majority of students identified as at‑risk, the school community benefits greatly from added support and resource‑driven initiatives.

To address these challenges, Sigma Gamma Rho’s Area III chapters will not only host the Youth Symposium but also help launch a new on‑campus food pantry—a lasting resource for students and their families. Your contributions help create long-term stability and meaningful change.

Empowerment

For 30 years, the Sigma Gamma Rho’s Youth Symposium has empowered students across the nation. This year’s “Full S.T.E.A.M. Ahead” theme elevates that mission by offering:

  • Hands-on S.T.E.A.M. enrichment

  • Workshops that blend creativity and critical thinking

  • Mentorship opportunities

  • Wellness and life‑skills programming

  • Leadership-building experiences

This immersive approach strengthens student confidence, encourages exploration, and inspires them to pursue academic and career pathways with determination.

Community Impact

Mead Middle School—serving nearly 960 students with a high percentage of the student population classified as at risk—benefits tremendously from resource-driven support.

This 30th anniversary Youth Symposium and the launch of the campus food pantry will help:

  • Address food insecurity

  • Improve student readiness

  • Strengthen family well‑being

  • Foster long-term academic engagement

  • Expand exposure to S.T.E.A.M. opportunities

This initiative stands as a powerful investment in the students and families of this vibrant community.

Unified Service

Area III members, affiliates, and partners are invited to unite in service and help us reach 150 student registrations. You can support in the following ways:

  • Graduate Members & Affiliates: Donate $125

  • Undergraduate Chapters: Donate $75

  • All Members & Community Partners: Bring nonperishable food items for the Mead Middle School Food Pantry

  • Rhoer Advisors: Register your Rhoer Clubs

  • Everyone: Volunteer on event day

Together, we honor 30 years of the Sigma Gamma Rho’s Youth Symposium by propelling our service Full S.T.E.A.M. Ahead—uplifting youth, strengthening communities, and ensuring every student feels seen, supported, and inspired.
