September 2019 News & Updates from the Southwestern Region

The 2018-2019 Sorority Year has begun and there are lots of great things in store for our Region! This administration is in alignment with the sorority’s platform,Intentional, Impactful, Measurable – A Sisterhood for the Future. Our leadership team is prepared to innovate and equip the Southwestern Region membership to be intentional with our initiatives and partnerships, ensure the outcome is impactful within the sisterhood and communities we serve, and measure our overwhelming successes. 2018 Area Meetings

The 2018 Area Meeting season will kicks off this weekend in Fayetteville, Arkansas with Area 1. The Area Meetings will provide important National and Regional updates as well as offer Level 2 TORCH Training for members who did not attend the training at Boule in July. Note: Level 2 Training is ONLY required for members who facilitate or assist with TORCH, i.e. Basilei and Anti-Basilei. Level 1 Training is required for all members and will be offered online by the end of this month. If you have not already registered for Area Meeting and are planning on attending, registration will be closing soon for Areas 2, 3 and 5 and has already closed for Area 1 and 4.


Area Meeting Community Service Projects Each area will be facilitating a community service project to leave an impact of of the community while we are in town for the Area Meeting. Below is a list of service projects for each area. For additional information about your Area's community service project, contact your Area Coordinator.

  • Area I: Each attendee is asked to donate at least 7 books for the 2nd to 6th grade age group. These donations will benefit the Yvonne Richardson Community Center. For more info click here or contact Area I Coordinator, Jonnelle A. Colbert-Diaz via email

  • Area II: Each chapter is asked to donate at least 15 suits or professional business attire items to support this service project. These donations will benefit Suited for Success. For more info click here or contact Area II Candyce Miller via email

  • Area III: Each attendee is asked to donate items from the Round Rock Wish List. These donations will benefit the AGE of Central Texas - Round Rock Adult Day Health Center. For more info click here or contact Area III YaYa Smith via email

  • Area IV: Each attendee is asked to donate items from the Restoration Haven Wish List. is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting low-income families within Waco’s urban areas. For more info click here or contact Area IV Mechelle Ware via email

  • Area V: Each attendee (Sorors & Philos) is asked to donate at least 1 gift card of any amount from Target, Wal-Mart, Visa, American Express, etc. that can be used in any major store in the New Orleans area.
